Job description: European Supply Chain Manager

You report to the VP Operations EMEA

The job is based at  Lelystad Netherlands

The European Supply Chain Manager, with a focus on Demand & Supply Planning, is responsible for overseeing the demand forecasting, inventory planning, and supply chain coordination across Europe. This role ensures the efficient and cost-effective flow of goods from suppliers to customers while balancing supply and demand to meet market needs. The position involves close collaboration with sales, marketing, production, and logistics teams to optimize inventory levels, minimize costs, and maximize customer satisfaction.

Your Key Responsibilities will be

  1. Demand Planning:
    • Develop and manage accurate demand forecasts based on historical data, market trends, and input from sales and marketing teams.
    • Implement demand planning tools and methodologies to enhance forecasting accuracy ( SLIM 4)
    • Coordinate cross-functional meetings to align on demand forecasts and address potential demand fluctuations.
  2. Supply Planning:
    • Create supply plans that ensure the timely availability of products to meet customer demand while optimizing inventory levels.
    • Work closely with production, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure alignment on supply chain activities.
    • Monitor and adjust supply plans in response to changes in demand forecasts, production capacity, and supplier constraints.
  3. Inventory Management:
    • Develop and maintain inventory policies, including safety stock levels and reorder points, to balance service levels and carrying costs.
    • Analyse inventory data to identify trends, manage slow-moving stock, and reduce excess inventory.
    • Implement strategies for inventory optimization and reduction of obsolete stock
  4. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Managing a team of demand planning and sales & operations in Netherlands, France, Sweden & Finland ( 10 HC)
    • Liaise with sales, marketing, and customer service teams to understand market dynamics and promotional activities that impact demand.
    • Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturing sites to manage lead times and ensure supply chain responsiveness.
    • Provide regular updates and reports on demand and supply status to senior management and key stakeholders.
  5. Process Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements in demand planning, supply planning, and inventory management.
    • Lead or participate in cross-functional projects aimed at improving supply chain efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing customer satisfaction.
    • Stay abreast of industry best practices and technology advancements in supply chain management.
  6. Risk Management:
    • Identify potential supply chain risks, such as supplier disruptions or market volatility, and develop contingency plans.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, corporate policies, and industry standards.

Your profile ideally looks like below

  • Proven work experience as a Supply Chain Manager, Inventory Manager, S&OP leader or similar role.
  • Good understanding of supply chain procedures.
  • Excellent organization skills.
  • Strong intellectual curiosity required.
  • Managing & leading multi country-based teams as an Inspiring leader
  • Capable to deal with various stakeholders at all managerial levels.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional and multicultural teams.

You have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Extensive experience (typically 5+ years) in demand planning, supply chain management, or a related role, preferably in a multinational environment.
